About the Model Tram Email GroupWhat is the Model Tram email group? The Model Tram email group is a way of contacting people on the internet with an interest in tramway (or trolley) modelling. The intention is to cover all aspects of the hobby, whether you build from scratch, use a ready built tram, or a kit. Any scale is welcome as hints and tips in one scale are often applicable to another scale. It is hoped that if you are stuck, you will be able to find an answer, or pass on a tip you have found during your modelling. The email group is hosted by Yahoo Groups, it is free, but a small advert is attached to each message. If you write your messages in plain text these adverts are not too obtrusive. If you write your message in HTML format, then the advert will be very obvious. Check your email editor settings, it usually tells you the format of your message at the top of the screen. Once you have joined you can send a single email that will be sent to all members of the group. You in turn will receive these emails. Feel free to ask questions, or answer questions, by sending the group an email. Do I need a Yahoo ID to use the Model Tram email group? You do not need a Yahoo ID if you subscribe to the group via email. If you have no intention of accessing the Yahoo Groups web interface, then you will not need a Yahoo ID. But if you want to view files and photos uploaded to the group, then you will need a Yahoo ID. You will also need a Yahoo ID if you want to change any of your group personal settings. Do I need a Yahoo Email address when I join Yahoo Groups? Not unless you want one. When registering for your Yahoo ID, enter an alternate (i.e. the one you have already) email address.
How do I join the Model Tram email group? The simplest way to join the Model Tram Email Group is to send blank email to this address:- model-tram-subscribe@yahoogroups.com Or alternatively enter your email address in to the box above and click the button. The email group will then send you an automatic email asking you to confirm that you want to join the group. Replying to this message will add you as a member of the group. You should then receive a welcoming email. How do I send messages to the group? The email address for the group is model-tram@yahoogroups.com. You can add this address to your address book in your email program. Now simply send your message to that address and it will be forwarded on to all members of the group. Don't forget you need to be a member of the group to send an email to other members of the group. How do I leave the Model Tram email group? You can leave the group sending a blank email to the following address:- model-tram-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com . You will be sent an email asking you to confirm that you wish to leave the group. When you reply to this message you will be removed from the group and no longer receive email messages. Can I choose how to view my messages? You will need a Yahoo ID to change these settings.
These settings are in your personnel Profile. By default you will receive individual email messages, if you want to change this go to this page http://groups.yahoo.com/group/model-tram , sign-in to YahooGroups with your Yahoo ID and password and select SETTINGS. How do I share my photograph of a model tram with the group? You will need a Yahoo ID to access this area. You can share photographs and files with the rest of the group by uploading them to the group photos area. This is better than attaching them to your email message, in fact the Yahoo does not store photos attached to your message. So members who browse messages rather than receiving via email will not see the attachment.. Once you have uploaded the phot, you can elect to email the group to tell them that it is there.
